On Wednesday, April 16, 2025, the Supreme Court proposed that properties designated as waqf, including those identified through “waqf by user,” should not be de-notified. However, the Central government objected to this proposal and requested a full hearing before any such order is issued.
The court further questioned whether Muslims would be permitted to participate in Hindu religious trusts, and expressed concern over the violence that erupted following the enactment of the Waqf Act, calling it a matter of serious concern.
